Year 1’s will be given 5 new spellings to learn each Friday and all spellings will link to the phonics teaching from that week. Children will then be tested on these the following Friday and will be given a sixth word that they haven’t seen.

Year 2’s will be given 8 new spellings each Friday and all spellings will link to the phonics teaching from that week. Children will then be tested on these the following Friday and will be given 2 extra words that they haven’t seen.
